We rate-limit by IP (5 generations per day) and cap renders per practice per day, so automated traffic can't chew through your monthly simulation allowance — genuine patient demand is what uses it.
Yes. Cancel from your dashboard or in writing; you keep access until the end of your billing month. No long-term contract.
No. It is a marketing and patient-education tool. Every preview is clearly labelled as an AI simulation, not a clinical assessment or guaranteed outcome. The dentist remains responsible for all clinical decisions and any advertising claims arising from their use of the tool.
For US practices, patient photos and enquiries are Protected Health Information (PHI), handled under a HIPAA Business Associate Agreement we sign directly with your practice. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest; selfies are processed once to generate the preview and deleted within about an hour, and patient contact details are delivered to your inbox and stored only briefly on your behalf.
No. Leads arrive in your email inbox in a clean format you can copy-paste into any CRM. CSV export from the dashboard is available for bulk import. A direct integration is on the roadmap.
The smile simulator is designed to use the uploaded image only to generate the smile preview, with clear privacy wording and a defined retention period. In other words, the image is being handled for one limited, stated purpose rather than being collected for broader or unclear use.
Yes. When a US dental practice uses the widget, the patient’s photo, the AI-generated preview, and their contact and enquiry details are PHI under HIPAA. Your practice is the Covered Entity and Dentalreel is your Business Associate under a signed BAA — see our compliance page for the full detail.
Yes — when used as intended. US dental advertising is governed by FTC truth-in-advertising principles and your state dental board’s rules: marketing must be accurate and free of misleading or exaggerated outcome claims. The widget is built around exactly that — every preview is an illustrative AI simulation with fixed disclaimers baked into the software, never a promised treatment result.
The uploaded image is kept only for the short time needed to generate and return the preview — about an hour — then it is deleted. The same retention is stated in the patient consent wording, our privacy notice, and the compliance page.
Yes. Major dental brands already use selfie-based smile simulation tools as part of patient enquiry and consultation journeys. Invisalign's SmileView describes itself as a computer-generated simulation and states that actual results may vary, and Aspen Dental's Smile Try-On similarly lets patients visualise how a new smile could look before booking or attending an appointment.
